Government To Trial Free Lunches In Schools!

The government has announced, it will be trailing free lunches in some New Zealand schools.
The trial will start with 30 primary and intermediate schools from the beginning of next year.

Prime minister Jacinda Adern announced the programme at the launch of  the child and youth well being strategy in Rotorua. That means children without lunches, will come to school not only to depend on their school to give them lunches but receive some from the government.

The plan is to expand the programme to 21,000 children in 120 schools by the beginning of 2021. Jacinda Adern said in her speech that 10,000 New Zealanders helped develop the plan. Of these, 6000 children, they pointed out that was going to school hungry was a barrier of their learning.
